Victoria Corless joins Venture Strategic after spending 5 years lecturing at The Art Institute of California – Orange County. In her career she has climbed an interesting ladder between education and business management. Victoria began her apparel management and business career at St. John Knits International, managing both the development and production of the St. John Sport line with the company’s overseas partners.
After eight (8) years of experience in the apparel merchandising and management industry, she served as a Store Team Leader (General Manager) for Target Corporation. During her tenure, she turned around the lowest performing store in a district of ten (10) stores by driving the team to maximize profits, improve sales and ROI, grow market share and build customer loyalty. Her efforts improved store performance by 30% and brought employee satisfaction survey results (“Balanced Score Card”) from red to green in less than one (1) year while managing a team of one hundred seventy five (175) team members and eight (8) assistant managers. Additionally, with her background as an educator, she was also responsible for developing a District Talent Initiative; a training and mentoring program for new general manager candidates in ten (10) stores throughout Southern California.
Prior to joining Target, Victoria served as a full time Adjunct Professor at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona teaching apparel merchandising, management and business related courses to undergraduate students. In addition to lecturing at the University level, she spent five years as a part-time Adjunct Professor at Mt. San Antonio College, teaching online and traditional courses. Throughout her career, Victoria has combined her interests in business and operations management with a passion for teaching and bringing her real world experience into the classroom.
Victoria earned her Bachelor of Science in Apparel Merchandising and Management from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and her Master’s in Business Administration with an Emphasis in International Marketing from Loyola Marymount University. She enjoys spending time with her husband Jeff and chasing after their two children, Katherine and James.
